For the 2024 edition of the Avant-Garde, the contest that showcases the most innovative packaging projects and materials of the year, the students of Istituto Europeo di Design were asked to design for Packaging Première & PCD Milan the trophy to prize the winners of the three categories in competition – Design, Innovative Materials and Sustainability.

IED students were engaged in the challenge of creating an object to represent the event, with an attractive design and a strong communicative impact. From the 6 projects submitted by the students, the one chosen was that of Jingwei Kong, Naishee Shah, Matteo Taglialegne, who started by working on our logos and had a fresh vison of it.

The shell and the pearl are a metaphor for the relationship between product and packaging. The concept of protecting something that is valuable – the product – while giving importance to the role of packaging. Understanding the principles of packaging led the students incorporating transparency, honesty and communication in the design of the trophy and its logo.

The winning projects for the three categories will be announced on May 23rd in the conference room.
