Packaging Première & PCD Milan: the first highlights of the 2024 edition, scheduled from 21 to 23 May in Milan.

The countdown to Packaging Première & PCD Milan 2024 has now started: with just a few months to go, the 2024 edition promises to be an impressive one, in terms of the high quality of the exhibitors, contents and collateral projects.

Packaging Première & PCD Milan pledge to be a hub of creativity, technology and sustainability, bringing together the main players in the packaging industry (brands, designers, experts and professionals in the fields of luxury, cosmetics, perfumery, wine & spirits, fine food and fashion) to explore the latest trends, promoting specific knowledge of the latest innovations and offering the opportunity to network with the most important insiders. The 2023 edition was attended by more than 7,500 professionals looking for new and high-end packaging solutions.

The 2024 edition will be a truly immersive and interactive experience, surrounding the role of the five senses and multi-sensoriality: taste will be fulfilled by a dessert that will be available for tasting during the event, specially created by the renowned pastry chef Gianluca Fusto of Fusto Milano; inspired by this dessert, the students of the Italian Perfumery Institute (an educational itinerary created to develop knowledge about perfume and olfactory culture) will create an home fragrance, a unique olfactory bouquet that will create a true sensory symphony. In addition to its diffusion in the entrance hall and the Art Gallery, the fragrance will be preserved in a precious packaging, carefully designed in every detail and created with the support of a group of exhibitors. The view will have its highlight in the Art Gallery, the creative hub that serves as a prologue to the event which will explore the theme of digital art, thanks to the project of artist Vincenzo Marsiglia, who will create an installation with visual effects that will engage the public in a unique adventure. The installation will be accompanied by music composed to make the whole experience even more immersive. Finally, the touch will be enhanced by printed effects that will decorate the paper and other materials used for the catalogue cover and for the dessert and fragrance packaging.

“Edition after edition, we aim to surprise our loyal community of professionals. We are preparing for an exciting 2024,” says Pier Paolo Ponchia, Founder and Director of Packaging Première. “In addition to the exhibition space, Packaging Première will host important keynote speakers and panel discussions with leaders and experts who will share their vision on the future of packaging,” continues Pier Paolo Ponchia. “Our goal is to enhance the culture of packaging, today driven by the latest advances in technology, responsible innovation and smart design”. Among the conferences not to be missed will be the one entitled “Brand elevation through contemporary art craft” starring Dom Pérignon, which will present its limited edition bottle of fifty pieces created by the artist Juliette Clovis. In addition, there will be a conference dedicated to sensory marketing and one focusing on the top trends of the Far East market, with a special focus on Korean cosmetics, recognised as a global excellence which will be represented on stage by Korean brands and designers; Laura Ravetta, Global Graphic Designer Senior Manager of Bally will speak about responsible innovation of materials in the fashion industry, while Pantone will be the main speaker at the conference focusing on the theme of colour, from digital to print.
The Avant Garde project is once again evolving. It aims to actively involve exhibitors as well as design and branding agencies, material manufacturers, deluxe packaging suppliers and start-ups with the purpose of developing materials or products that are considered worthy in terms of innovation, that bring a benefit in terms of use for society or the environment and belong to one or more of the following categories: innovative materials, sustainability in the production chain and in the realisation of the proposal, innovative design for aesthetics, design and functionality for the brand and the consumer. The projects will be evaluated by a highly qualified jury composed of experts in the industry, including: Anna Pellizzari, Giusy Bettoni, Federica Brumen, Iren Ivoi, Massimo Ramunni, Fabio Pastore, Tommaso Pecchioli, Vincenzo Maccarrone and Elena Ornaghi. All the selected projects will be exhibited at Packaging Première & PCD Milan 2024 in the Avant-Garde area to be admired by visitors. The winning packaging in each category will be presented during a dedicated conference scheduled for 23 May to give the opportunity to get to know the most innovative projects and their creators closely.
Packaging Première will also present Design Hub, a space within the event where five top agencies specialising in wine and spirits packaging design will present their projects, providing a valuable source of inspiration in terms of branding and packaging. The selected agencies are Advision, BasileADV, Officina Grafica, O,nice! Design Studio and Smith Lumen, who will interact with visitors to unveil the most distinctive and impactful packaging. Packaging Première & PCD Milan is not just an event, but a celebration of the dynamic and ever-evolving world of packaging.
