“Paper Seams” is a 100% cellulose bag with a carefully designed shape that allows assembly without the use of glue or adhesives. The cellulose fibre handle is applied in a structural manner to hold the deliberately designed flat elements together. The result is a mono-material luxury bag that is fully recyclable as paper, conceived as an ethical and durable answer to the brand’s promotional vehicle media. The project was developed by in-house research in the Packaging Division to identify eco-chic solutions capable of combining product and process sustainability with the aesthetic refinement required in luxury packaging.
The production is realised through the combination of 2 different types of paper that guarantee at the same time structural solidity, great personality and product versatility. The system of folds and components is specially designed to allow for great dimensional variety. The Japanese fold at the bottom allows for opening and closing in place. The ‘sartorial’ motif of the handle, from which the project takes its name, is a tribute to Italian manufacturing excellence and the industrial workshop model that D’Auria proposes to the most exclusive segments of the market. “Paper Seams” is made using paper products sourced responsibly and processed through a CoC-FSC™ – Coc-PEFC™ – ISO 45001 certified supply chain.
The product photographed was made externally with 240 gram Fedrigoni Materica FSC pulpcoloured Cobalt paper and internally with 160 gram Fedrigoni Golden Star K Extra White paper. The handles are made of pulp-dyed cellulose fibre with vegetable pigments. The production of the bag is compatible with digital printing, offset, screen printing, hot stamping and embossing. The photographed version is hot-printed with transparent matt foil.
